Uses

Combination of an expectorant and a bronchodilator indicated for symptomatic relief of cough with bronchospasm in conditions such as asthma, bronchitis, and other obstructive airway diseases with excessive mucus secretion.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to salbutamol or guaifenesin. Use with caution in patients with cardiovascular disease, hyperthyroidism, or diabetes mellitus.

Side effects

Salbutamol may cause tremor, palpitations, tachycardia, headache, and nervous tension. Guaifenesin may cause mild nausea. Hypokalaemia may occur with high doses of salbutamol.

Warnings

Do not exceed recommended doses. Monitor patients with cardiovascular conditions. Avoid in patients with severe tachycardia or other cardiac arrhythmias. Paradoxical bronchospasm may occur rarely with beta-2 agonists.

How it works

Salbutamol is a selective beta-2 adrenergic agonist that relaxes bronchial smooth muscle, relieving bronchospasm. Guaifenesin reduces mucus viscosity and promotes mucociliary clearance by increasing respiratory tract fluid secretion. The combination addresses both bronchoconstriction and mucus retention.
