Uses

Used in enzyme preparations to aid starch digestion. It is also included in some enzyme-based products intended to support reduction of inflammation and tissue swelling.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to alpha amylase or formulation components.

Side effects

Generally well tolerated. Gastrointestinal discomfort or allergic reactions may occur rarely.

Warnings

Use cautiously in patients with known enzyme allergies. Product-specific indications should be followed.

How it works
