Uses

Indicated for topical treatment of acute pain due to minor strains, sprains, and contusions in adults and pediatric patients 6 years and older.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to diclofenac or any NSAID, history of asthma or urticaria triggered by NSAIDs or aspirin, perioperative pain in the setting of CABG surgery, and on damaged or broken skin.

Side effects

Local reactions at the application site include pruritus, erythema, and dermatitis. Systemic NSAID effects such as cardiovascular thrombotic events, gastrointestinal bleeding, and hepatotoxicity may occur though less likely with topical use.

Warnings

NSAIDs increase risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events and gastrointestinal bleeding. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Do not use with occlusive dressings. Avoid concurrent use of other topical or systemic NSAIDs.

How it works

Diclofenac epolamine is an NSAID that inhibits cyclooxygenase enzymes (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis and thereby decreasing inflammation, pain, and fever. The epolamine salt form enhances skin penetration for topical delivery.

Storage

Store at room temperature between 20°C and 25°C, with excursions permitted between 15°C and 30°C.
