Uses

Used as a dietary supplement to support calcium intake and provide antioxidant vitamin C. May be recommended for individuals with increased calcium needs such as growing children, pregnant or breastfeeding women, and older adults at risk of osteoporosis.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, nephrolithiasis, or conditions predisposing to calcium overload. Should be avoided in severe renal impairment.

Side effects

Generally well tolerated. May cause gastrointestinal discomfort, constipation, or nausea at high doses. Excessive calcium intake can lead to hypercalcemia. High-dose vitamin C may cause diarrhea or kidney stones in susceptible individuals.

Warnings

Keep out of reach of children due to risk of accidental overdose. Avoid concurrent use of other calcium-containing supplements to prevent excessive intake. Patients with renal disease should consult a physician before use.

How it works

Calcium is essential for bone mineralization, muscle contraction, nerve conduction, and blood coagulation. Vitamin C (ascorbic acid) is a water-soluble antioxidant that also enhances calcium absorption and is required for collagen synthesis.
