Uses

Dental local anaesthetic combination used for infiltration and nerve block anaesthesia in dental and oral surgical procedures. Lidocaine provides rapid-onset local anaesthesia; adrenaline (epinephrine) acts as a vasoconstrictor to prolong duration, reduce bleeding, and limit systemic absorption.

Do not use if

Hypersensitivity to amide-type local anaesthetics or adrenaline. Use with extreme caution in patients with severe cardiovascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, or concurrent monoamine oxidase inhibitor therapy.

Side effects

Local reactions include temporary numbness and tingling. Systemic side effects from inadvertent intravascular injection may include palpitations, tachycardia, anxiety, and hypertension from adrenaline, or CNS excitation followed by depression from lidocaine.

Warnings

Aspirate before injection to avoid intravascular administration. Use minimum effective dose especially in patients with cardiac conditions. Dental cartridges are for single use only.

How it works

Lidocaine is an amide local anaesthetic that blocks voltage-gated sodium channels, preventing nerve impulse propagation. Adrenaline stimulates alpha-adrenergic receptors, causing vasoconstriction that reduces systemic absorption of lidocaine and prolongs its anaesthetic effect.

Store below 25°C, protected from light. Do not freeze. Keep in original packaging until use.
