Uses
A topical ophthalmic histamine H1-receptor antagonist and mast cell stabilizer indicated for the treatment of itching associated with allergic conjunctivitis.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with a history of hypersensitivity to bepotastine besilate or any other ingredient in the formulation.
Side effects
The most common adverse reaction is a mild taste following instillation, occurring in approximately 25% of patients. Eye irritation, headache, and nasopharyngitis occur in 2–5% of patients.
Warnings
Do not touch the dropper tip to any surface to avoid contamination. Not intended for treatment of contact lens-related irritation. Remove contact lenses before instillation and wait at least 10 minutes before reinserting.
How it works
Bepotastine is a direct topically active H1-receptor antagonist that also inhibits histamine release from conjunctival mast cells, providing dual antiallergic activity. It has minimal systemic absorption following topical ophthalmic use.
Storage
Store at room temperature between 15–25°C. Keep the bottle tightly closed when not in use.
