Uses

Indicated for the eradication of scabies (Sarcoptes scabiei) and for symptomatic relief of pruritic skin conditions.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with known sensitivity or allergy to crotamiton or who develop a primary irritation response to topical medications.

Side effects

Occasional primary irritation reactions such as dermatitis, pruritus, and rash have been reported. Allergic hypersensitivity reactions may occur in rare cases.

Warnings

Discontinue use if severe irritation or sensitization develops. Avoid contact with eyes and mucous membranes. Do not apply to acutely inflamed or raw skin. Keep out of reach of children.

How it works

Crotamiton has both scabicidal and antipruritic actions. The precise mechanisms are unknown. Systemic absorption following topical application has not been fully characterized.

Storage

Store at room temperature between 20–25°C (68–77°F). Excursions permitted as per label.
