Uses
Used as a topical antimicrobial for prevention and treatment of infection in second- and third-degree burns.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to silver sulfadiazine, near-term pregnancy, premature infants, and newborns.
Side effects
May cause transient leukopenia, skin discoloration, burning, rash, or hypersensitivity reactions.
Warnings
Systemic absorption may occur when applied to large burn areas. Sulfonamide-related adverse effects are possible.
