Uses
P2Y12 inhibitor used to reduce thrombotic cardiovascular events in acute coronary syndrome patients undergoing PCI.
Do not use if
Active bleeding, prior stroke or TIA, or hypersensitivity to prasugrel.
Side effects
Bleeding is the most important adverse effect. Hypersensitivity and rare thrombotic thrombocytopenic purpura may occur.
Warnings
May cause serious or fatal bleeding. Assess bleeding risk carefully.
How it works
Irreversibly inhibits platelet activation and aggregation through P2Y12 receptor blockade.
