Uses
Used for susceptible bacterial infections including respiratory tract, ear, sinus, skin, and soft tissue infections.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in severe allergy to penicillins, cephalosporins, or this product. Also contraindicated with prior cholestatic jaundice related to its use.
Side effects
Common effects include diarrhea, nausea, vomiting, and rash. Serious allergic or liver reactions may occur rarely.
Warnings
Monitor for severe hypersensitivity, skin reactions, liver dysfunction, and C. difficile-associated diarrhea.
How it works
Amoxicillin inhibits bacterial cell-wall synthesis. Clavulanic acid inhibits beta-lactamases and helps restore antibacterial activity.
