Uses

Used for Parkinson's disease, post-encephalitic parkinsonism, and symptomatic parkinsonism from certain toxic exposures.

Do not use if

Contraindicated with nonselective MAO inhibitors and in patients with hypersensitivity to formulation components.

Nausea, dizziness, dyskinesia, orthostatic hypotension, hallucinations, and insomnia may occur.

Dose adjustment should be individualized. Monitor for psychiatric symptoms, dyskinesias, and sudden sleep episodes.

Levodopa is converted to dopamine in the brain, while carbidopa inhibits peripheral levodopa metabolism and enhances availability.

Store at room temperature and protect from moisture.
