Uses
This combination product provides symptomatic relief of common cold and influenza symptoms, including nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, cough, sore throat, headache, and fever.
Do not use if
Contraindicated with concurrent use of MAOIs or within 2 weeks of MAOI discontinuation, and with other acetaminophen-containing products. Avoid in severe hypertension, coronary artery disease, and hyperthyroidism.
Side effects
Common side effects include drowsiness (chlorpheniramine), nervousness or insomnia (pseudoephedrine), dizziness, and dry mouth. Severe liver damage may occur with acetaminophen overdose.
Warnings
Contains acetaminophen; avoid concurrent use with other acetaminophen products. Do not exceed 4,000 mg of acetaminophen per 24 hours. Avoid with alcohol. Drowsiness may impair the ability to drive or operate machinery.
How it works
Chlorpheniramine is a first-generation H1 antihistamine that reduces rhinorrhea and sneezing. Dextromethorphan suppresses cough via central action on the cough center. Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic decongestant that reduces nasal congestion. Paracetamol provides analgesia and antipyresis via central prostaglandin synthesis inhibition.
Storage
Store at room temperature 20–25°C (68–77°F). Do not use if packaging is damaged.
