Uses

Indicated as a complete regimen for treatment of HIV-1 infection in adults and eligible pediatric patients weighing at least 40 kg. It may be used in treatment-naïve patients or certain virologically suppressed patients.

Do not use if

Contraindicated with certain drugs highly dependent on CYP3A metabolism and in patients with hypersensitivity to any component.

Side effects

Diarrhea, rash, nausea, fatigue, hepatotoxicity, renal impairment, and severe skin reactions may occur.

Warnings

Monitor liver and kidney function. Severe hepatitis B exacerbation may occur after discontinuation in coinfected patients.

How it works

Combines a protease inhibitor, pharmacokinetic enhancer, and two nucleoside reverse transcriptase inhibitors to suppress HIV replication.
