Uses
Used for gastroesophageal reflux disease, erosive esophagitis, and conditions requiring gastric acid suppression.
Do not use if
Hypersensitivity to omeprazole, substituted benzimidazoles, or formulation components.
Side effects
Headache, abdominal pain, nausea, diarrhea, or flatulence may occur.
Warnings
Long-term use may increase the risk of vitamin B12 deficiency, hypomagnesemia, and fractures.
How it works
Omeprazole irreversibly inhibits the gastric proton pump, while sodium bicarbonate protects omeprazole from acid degradation.
