Uses
An SGLT2 inhibitor used with diet and exercise to improve blood sugar control in type 2 diabetes, and to reduce the risk of major cardiovascular events and the progression of kidney disease in appropriate patients.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in severe renal impairment, patients on dialysis, and hypersensitivity to canagliflozin.
Side effects
Common effects include genital fungal infections, urinary tract infections, increased urination, and thirst. Volume depletion and low blood pressure can occur.
Warnings
Risk of diabetic ketoacidosis, lower-limb amputation, serious genital infection (Fournier's gangrene), and dehydration. Monitor kidney function.
How it works
Canagliflozin inhibits sodium-glucose co-transporter 2 in the kidney, reducing glucose reabsorption and increasing urinary glucose excretion.

Store at room temperature, around 20-25 degrees Celsius.
