Uses

Used for treatment of seizures and certain forms of epilepsy. It may also be used for sedation in selected situations.

Do not use if

Porphyria, severe respiratory depression, hypersensitivity to barbiturates, or severe hepatic impairment.

Drowsiness, dizziness, impaired concentration, behavioral changes, and respiratory depression may occur.

May cause dependence and withdrawal symptoms. Monitor for sedation and respiratory depression.

Long-acting barbiturate that enhances GABA-mediated inhibition in the central nervous system.

Store at room temperature.
