Uses

Used as part of combination chemotherapy regimens for acute lymphoblastic leukemia and certain lymphoid malignancies.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with severe hypersensitivity to asparaginase or a history of serious pancreatitis related to treatment.

May cause hypersensitivity reactions, pancreatitis, liver dysfunction, hyperglycemia, and coagulation abnormalities.

Requires close monitoring of liver function, coagulation parameters, glucose levels, and signs of pancreatitis.

Hydrolyzes circulating asparagine, depriving susceptible cancer cells of an essential amino acid required for protein synthesis.

Store according to manufacturer recommendations, usually refrigerated and protected from light.
