Uses

Used for treatment and suppression of herpes simplex infections, shingles, and certain varicella infections.

Do not use if

Hypersensitivity to valacyclovir, acyclovir, or formulation components.

Headache, nausea, abdominal pain, and dizziness are common. Rare serious renal or neurological effects may occur.

Monitor renal function and hydration. Serious neurological and hematologic complications may occur in high-risk patients.

Prodrug converted to acyclovir, which inhibits viral DNA replication.

Store at room temperature.
