Uses
Used for neovascular (wet) age-related macular degeneration, diabetic macular edema, diabetic retinopathy, and macular edema following retinal vein occlusion.
Do not use if
Ocular or periocular infections, active intraocular inflammation, or hypersensitivity to aflibercept.
Side effects
May cause increased intraocular pressure, eye pain, conjunctival hemorrhage, endophthalmitis, retinal detachment, or hypersensitivity reactions.
Warnings
Patients should promptly report symptoms such as eye pain, vision changes, or increasing redness after injection.
How it works
VEGF inhibitor that binds VEGF and placental growth factor, reducing abnormal blood vessel growth and leakage.
