Uses
A combination cold and flu preparation used for the symptomatic relief of nasal congestion, runny nose, sneezing, headache, fever, and body aches associated with the common cold and influenza.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients taking MAO inhibitors, with severe hypertension, coronary artery disease, urinary retention, or known hypersensitivity to any component. Avoid in patients with hyperthyroidism or glaucoma.
Side effects
May cause drowsiness, dizziness, dry mouth, urinary retention, insomnia, palpitations, and increased blood pressure. Hepatotoxicity may occur with paracetamol overdose.
Warnings
Do not exceed recommended paracetamol dose. Caution in patients with hypertension, diabetes, or prostatic hypertrophy. May cause excitability in children.
How it works
Paracetamol provides analgesia and antipyresis; pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic decongestant; chlorpheniramine is an H1 antihistamine that reduces rhinorrhea and sneezing; caffeine enhances the analgesic effect and counters drowsiness.
