Uses

This combination is indicated for the temporary relief of symptoms associated with the common cold and influenza, including nasal and sinus congestion, headache, minor aches and pains, and fever. Pseudoephedrine acts as a nasal decongestant while paracetamol relieves pain and reduces fever.

Do not use if

Do not use with other products containing paracetamol. Contraindicated in patients taking or who have recently taken a monoamine oxidase inhibitor (MAOI). Patients with severe hypertension, severe coronary artery disease, or hypersensitivity to either ingredient should avoid this product.

Side effects

May cause nervousness, dizziness, or insomnia, primarily due to pseudoephedrine. Excessive paracetamol use carries risk of severe liver damage. Nasal congestion or cough may worsen if the underlying condition is more serious.

Warnings

Severe liver damage may occur if more than the recommended daily dose of paracetamol is taken, or if combined with other paracetamol-containing products or with regular alcohol consumption. If symptoms persist beyond 7 days or worsen, discontinue and consult a physician.

How it works

Paracetamol exerts analgesic and antipyretic effects through inhibition of prostaglandin synthesis centrally and peripherally. Pseudoephedrine is a sympathomimetic amine that causes vasoconstriction of nasal mucosa vasculature, thereby reducing nasal congestion.

Storage

Store at no greater than 25°C (77°F), away from moisture and heat.
