Uses

Used for generalized tonic-clonic seizures, focal seizures, and prevention of seizures associated with neurosurgery.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to phenytoin or hydantoins, prior phenytoin-related hepatotoxicity, and concomitant delavirdine use.

Dizziness, ataxia, nystagmus, gingival hyperplasia, rash, and drowsiness may occur.

Abrupt discontinuation may precipitate seizures. Serious skin reactions and hepatic toxicity can occur.

Antiepileptic drug that stabilizes neuronal membranes through voltage-dependent sodium channel blockade.

Store at 20–25°C and protect from moisture.
