Uses
A rectal cream combining a topical vasodilator (glyceryl trinitrate) with soothing, anti-inflammatory, and emollient ingredients for the relief of pain, itching, and discomfort associated with haemorrhoids and anal fissures.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to nitrates or any component. Avoid concurrent use with phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors (e.g., sildenafil) due to risk of severe hypotension.
Side effects
Glyceryl trinitrate may cause headache, perianal burning, or flushing due to systemic absorption. Dimethicone reduces flatulence-related discomfort. Hypersensitivity to any botanical component (chamomile, clove oil) is possible.
Warnings
Use only the prescribed amount; excessive application increases systemic nitrate absorption and risk of hypotension. Avoid use near open flames or cautery devices. Do not use in children without medical advice.
How it works
Glyceryl trinitrate releases nitric oxide in smooth muscle, causing relaxation of the internal anal sphincter and improving anodermal blood flow, which promotes healing of anal fissures. Chamomile extract and panthenol have anti-inflammatory and skin-soothing properties. Grape seed oil, wheat germ oil, and dimethicone provide lubrication and moisture protection. Clove oil contains eugenol with local anaesthetic and antiseptic activity.
Storage
Store below 25°C, away from heat and direct light. Keep tube tightly closed after use.
