Uses

Used for prevention and treatment of venous thromboembolism, prevention of stroke in atrial fibrillation, and prevention of thromboembolic complications in selected patients.

Do not use if

Contraindicated during pregnancy except in selected high-risk situations, active bleeding, and hypersensitivity to warfarin.

Side effects

Bleeding, bruising, nausea, rash, and elevated liver enzymes may occur.

Warnings

Requires regular INR monitoring due to risk of major or fatal bleeding and numerous drug and food interactions.

How it works

Vitamin K antagonist that inhibits synthesis of clotting factors II, VII, IX, and X.

Store at room temperature in a tightly closed container.
