Uses

Adjunct treatment for acute exacerbations of asthma and other reversible obstructive airway diseases.

Do not use if

Hypersensitivity to theophylline, ethylenediamine, or any component of the product.

Side effects

Nausea, vomiting, headache, insomnia, and nervousness may occur. Toxic levels can cause serious cardiac or neurologic effects.

Warnings

Use cautiously in patients with peptic ulcer disease, seizures, arrhythmias, or significant cardiovascular disease. Serum level monitoring may be required.

How it works

Aminophylline releases theophylline, producing bronchodilation and reducing airway responsiveness.

Store according to labeled instructions and protect from inappropriate temperatures.
