Uses

Used for serious infections caused by susceptible Gram-negative and certain Gram-positive bacteria.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to amikacin or other aminoglycosides.

Nephrotoxicity, ototoxicity, injection-site reactions, dizziness, and allergic reactions may occur.

Monitor renal function and hearing. Serious respiratory and hypersensitivity reactions may occur.

Aminoglycoside antibiotic that inhibits bacterial protein synthesis by binding to the 30S ribosomal subunit.

Store according to product instructions; injectable forms are often refrigerated.
