Uses

Used for the treatment of acute manic and mixed episodes and for maintenance therapy in bipolar I disorder.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to product components.

Side effects

May cause tremor, increased thirst, increased urination, nausea, weight gain, and thyroid or kidney abnormalities.

Warnings

Lithium toxicity can occur at concentrations close to the therapeutic range. Regular monitoring of serum lithium, kidney function, and thyroid function is required.
