Uses

Used for epilepsy, bipolar disorder, and prevention of migraine attacks depending on indication.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in severe hepatic disease, certain mitochondrial disorders, and hypersensitivity to valproate.

Nausea, tremor, weight gain, drowsiness, hair loss, and elevated liver enzymes may occur.

May cause serious liver toxicity, pancreatitis, and fetal harm during pregnancy.

Antiepileptic drug that increases GABA activity and stabilizes neuronal firing.

Store at room temperature.
