Uses

Used for osteoporosis in postmenopausal women and men at high fracture risk or intolerant to other therapies. Increases bone mass and reduces fracture risk.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to teriparatide or its excipients.

Side effects

Common effects include joint pain, nausea, limb pain, and dizziness.

Warnings

Avoid in patients at increased risk of osteosarcoma, including certain bone disorders or prior skeletal radiation.

How it works

Recombinant parathyroid hormone analog that stimulates new bone formation when given intermittently.
