Uses
Used to treat anemia associated with chronic kidney disease and certain chemotherapy regimens.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in uncontrolled hypertension, pure red cell aplasia related to ESA therapy, and serious hypersensitivity.
Side effects
May cause hypertension, thrombosis, stroke, cardiovascular events, and injection-site reactions.
Warnings
May increase the risk of death, cardiovascular events, thrombosis, and tumor progression in some settings.
How it works
Darbepoetin alfa stimulates erythropoiesis by activating erythropoietin receptors in bone marrow.
