Uses
Used for urinary retention associated with neurogenic bladder dysfunction and certain disorders involving reduced smooth muscle activity.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in mechanical gastrointestinal or urinary obstruction, severe asthma, and hypersensitivity to the drug.
Side effects
May cause abdominal cramps, diarrhea, increased salivation, sweating, bradycardia, and cholinergic effects.
Warnings
Excessive dosing may lead to cholinergic crisis. Monitor patients for respiratory and cardiovascular effects.
How it works
A long-acting cholinesterase inhibitor that increases acetylcholine levels and enhances parasympathetic activity.
