Uses
Used as a nutritional supplement to support bone mineralization and calcium metabolism. Vitamin D facilitates intestinal calcium absorption; vitamin C supports collagen synthesis and enhances calcium bioavailability.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in hypercalcemia, hypercalciuria, nephrolithiasis (calcium stones), and hypervitaminosis D. Use with caution in patients with sarcoidosis or other granulomatous diseases.
Side effects
May cause constipation, flatulence, or gastrointestinal upset at higher doses. Excessive intake can lead to hypercalcemia or vitamin D toxicity, manifesting as nausea, weakness, and renal impairment.
Warnings
Keep out of reach of children. Do not exceed the recommended dose. Patients on thiazide diuretics or with renal disease should consult a physician before use, as the risk of hypercalcemia is increased.
How it works
Calcium is the principal mineral for bone structure and neuromuscular function. Vitamin D3 (cholecalciferol) is hydroxylated in the liver and kidney to its active form calcitriol, which promotes intestinal calcium absorption. Vitamin C acts as a cofactor in collagen synthesis and may improve calcium absorption.
