Uses
This B-vitamin complex is used as a nutritional supplement to support nerve function, energy metabolism, red blood cell formation, and homocysteine regulation. It is indicated in deficiency states or as adjunctive support in conditions associated with B-vitamin insufficiency, including peripheral neuropathy.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in known hypersensitivity to any component. Use with caution in patients being treated for vitamin B12 deficiency, as high-dose folic acid can mask the hematological but not neurological manifestations of deficiency.
Side effects
Generally very well tolerated. High doses of vitamin B6 (pyridoxine) may cause peripheral neuropathy with long-term use. Folic acid supplementation may mask vitamin B12 deficiency anemia. Biotin at high doses may interfere with certain laboratory immunoassays.
Warnings
Consult a healthcare professional before use if pregnant or breastfeeding. In case of overdose seek medical attention. High-dose biotin may interfere with thyroid and cardiac biomarker immunoassays — inform laboratory staff. Keep out of reach of children.
How it works
Biotin serves as a coenzyme for carboxylase enzymes involved in fatty acid synthesis and gluconeogenesis. Folic acid is essential for nucleotide synthesis and DNA methylation. Vitamin B12 is required for myelin synthesis and homocysteine remethylation. Vitamin B6 is a cofactor in amino acid metabolism and neurotransmitter synthesis.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place below 25°C, away from light and moisture. Keep in the original packaging.
