Uses

Used as an adjunct to rest, physical therapy, and other measures for relief of discomfort associated with acute painful musculoskeletal conditions in adults and adolescents.

Do not use if

Hypersensitivity to metaxalone, severe hepatic or renal impairment, or a history of drug-induced or hemolytic anemia.

Side effects

Drowsiness, dizziness, headache, nausea, irritability, and fatigue may occur.

Warnings

May cause drowsiness and impair mental alertness. Serotonin syndrome has been reported, especially with serotonergic medicines.

How it works

A centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant. Its therapeutic effect may be related to sedative properties rather than direct muscle action.

Storage

Store at controlled room temperature in a dry place.
