Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to alverine or simethicone. Avoid in patients with paralytic ileus or serious gastrointestinal disease.
Side effects
Generally well tolerated. Possible side effects include nausea, dizziness, headache, and skin rash. Rare cases of hepatotoxicity have been associated with alverine.
Warnings
Rare cases of hepatotoxicity have been reported with alverine; monitor liver function if treatment is prolonged. Not recommended in pregnancy unless clearly necessary.
How it works
Alverine citrate relaxes smooth muscle by inhibiting calcium influx and antagonizing 5-HT1A receptors. Simethicone is a defoaming agent that reduces surface tension of gas bubbles in the gastrointestinal tract, facilitating their expulsion and relieving bloating.
Storage
Store below 25°C in a dry place, away from direct sunlight. Keep out of reach of children.
