Uses

Used as an adjunct to diet to reduce LDL cholesterol in primary hyperlipidemia and familial hypercholesterolemia.

Do not use if

Contraindicated with cyclosporine, acute liver failure, decompensated cirrhosis, and hypersensitivity.

Muscle pain, back pain, constipation, elevated liver enzymes, and headache may occur.

Monitor for myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, liver dysfunction, and changes in blood glucose.

HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that reduces cholesterol synthesis and increases LDL clearance.

Store at 20–25°C and protect from light.
