Uses

Used as an adjunct to diet to lower cholesterol and reduce cardiovascular events in high-risk patients.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in acute liver failure, decompensated cirrhosis, and with certain interacting medications.

Muscle pain, elevated liver enzymes, headache, abdominal discomfort, and fatigue may occur.

Monitor for myopathy, rhabdomyolysis, and liver dysfunction.

HMG-CoA reductase inhibitor that reduces cholesterol synthesis and lowers LDL cholesterol.

Store at room temperature.
