Uses
Used in the treatment of chronic lymphocytic leukemia and certain malignant lymphomas, including Hodgkin lymphoma. It provides disease control but is not curative.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with prior resistance to chlorambucil or hypersensitivity to chlorambucil. Cross-hypersensitivity with other alkylating agents may occur.
Side effects
The most common adverse effect is bone marrow suppression, including anemia, leukopenia, neutropenia, thrombocytopenia, or pancytopenia.
Warnings
Can cause severe bone marrow suppression. It is carcinogenic, potentially mutagenic, teratogenic, and may cause infertility.
How it works
Chlorambucil is an alkylating antineoplastic agent that interferes with DNA replication and promotes apoptosis in malignant cells.
