Uses

Used to reduce thrombotic cardiovascular events in patients with non-ST elevation acute coronary syndrome, often alongside other antithrombotic therapies.

Do not use if

Active internal bleeding, history of severe bleeding disorders, prior tirofiban-induced thrombocytopenia, or hypersensitivity.

Side effects

Bleeding is the most common adverse effect. Thrombocytopenia and hypersensitivity reactions may also occur.

Warnings

May cause serious bleeding. Monitor platelet count and discontinue if severe thrombocytopenia develops.

How it works

Reversible glycoprotein IIb/IIIa receptor antagonist that inhibits platelet aggregation.
