Uses

Used for the relief of mild to moderate pain associated with acute musculoskeletal disorders. Paracetamol provides analgesia and antipyresis, while orphenadrine relieves skeletal muscle spasm via its central antimuscarinic action.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in glaucoma, urinary retention, myasthenia gravis, pyloric or duodenal obstruction, and in patients with known hypersensitivity to either component. Avoid in severe hepatic impairment.

Side effects

Orphenadrine may cause dry mouth, blurred vision, urinary retention, tachycardia, and CNS effects such as dizziness or confusion. Paracetamol is generally well tolerated but hepatotoxicity may occur in overdose.

Warnings

Avoid in patients with hepatic disease or chronic alcohol use due to paracetamol hepatotoxicity risk. Orphenadrine's anticholinergic effects are additive with other anticholinergic drugs. Use with caution in the elderly. Avoid prolonged use without medical supervision.

How it works

Orphenadrine is a centrally acting skeletal muscle relaxant with anticholinergic properties; it inhibits polysynaptic spinal reflexes. Paracetamol inhibits prostaglandin synthesis in the CNS and acts on descending serotonergic pathways to produce analgesia.
