Uses

Used for treatment and prevention of serious ventricular arrhythmias including ventricular tachycardia and ventricular fibrillation.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in hypersensitivity to amiodarone or iodine and certain severe conduction disorders.

Hypotension, thyroid dysfunction, pulmonary toxicity, liver injury, bradycardia, and photosensitivity may occur.

Requires careful monitoring for pulmonary, thyroid, hepatic, and cardiac toxicities.

Class III antiarrhythmic with effects on sodium, potassium, and calcium channels and adrenergic receptors.
