Uses
This combination of B-complex vitamins is indicated for the prevention and treatment of B-vitamin deficiencies. It supports neurological function, red blood cell formation, energy metabolism, and cellular growth. It may be used as a nutritional supplement in conditions of increased demand such as pregnancy, poor dietary intake, or chronic illness.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to any component. Folic acid supplementation alone in vitamin B12 deficiency may mask megaloblastic anemia and allow neurological damage to progress.
Side effects
Generally well tolerated. High doses of niacin (nicotinamide) may cause flushing, gastrointestinal upset, or hepatotoxicity. Rare allergic reactions to folic acid or cyanocobalamin have been reported. Peripheral sensory neuropathy can occur with very high chronic doses of vitamin B6.
Warnings
Use with caution in patients with renal impairment as water-soluble vitamins may accumulate. Folic acid doses above 1 mg/day should be used cautiously in patients with undiagnosed B12 deficiency to avoid masking neurological complications.
How it works
The B vitamins in this combination serve as essential cofactors in numerous enzymatic reactions. Thiamine (B1) and pyridoxine (B6) support neurological function and amino acid metabolism; cyanocobalamin (B12) is critical for myelin synthesis and DNA formation; folic acid is required for nucleotide biosynthesis; nicotinamide participates in NAD/NADH redox reactions; panthenol is a precursor to coenzyme A.
Storage
Store in a cool, dry place away from direct light and moisture. Follow manufacturer-specific labeling for the exact product.
