Uses
Combination indicated for the relief of acute musculoskeletal pain and inflammation associated with muscle spasm, such as low back pain and sprains.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in patients with peptic ulcer disease, renal or hepatic impairment, known allergy to NSAIDs or aspirin, and in the third trimester of pregnancy. Avoid in patients with myasthenia gravis.
Side effects
May cause gastrointestinal upset, nausea, dizziness, drowsiness, and headache. Diclofenac carries cardiovascular and renal risks; methocarbamol may cause sedation and blurred vision.
Warnings
NSAIDs increase the risk of serious cardiovascular thrombotic events and gastrointestinal bleeding. Use the lowest effective dose for the shortest duration. Caution in elderly patients.
How it works
Diclofenac inhibits cyclooxygenase (COX-1 and COX-2), reducing prostaglandin synthesis to exert anti-inflammatory and analgesic effects. Methocarbamol acts as a central nervous system depressant that relieves skeletal muscle spasm.
