Uses
Acute treatment of migraine with or without aura in adults and certain adolescents after migraine diagnosis is established.
Do not use if
Ischemic heart disease, cerebrovascular disease, peripheral vascular disease, uncontrolled hypertension, or recent ergot/triptan use.
Side effects
Dizziness, nausea, fatigue, tingling, and rarely serious cardiovascular events.
Warnings
Evaluate cardiovascular risk before use in susceptible patients. Seek care for chest pain or serious symptoms.
How it works
Selective 5-HT1B/1D receptor agonist that relieves migraine by cranial vasoconstriction and modulation of trigeminal pathways.
