Uses

Combined live attenuated vaccine indicated for active immunization against measles, mumps, and rubella in children and adults as part of routine vaccination schedules. Provides protection against three viral diseases that can cause serious complications.

Do not use if

Contraindicated in individuals with severe immunodeficiency (including HIV with severe immunosuppression), history of anaphylaxis to neomycin or gelatin, during pregnancy, and in those with active febrile illness. Should not be administered to persons receiving high-dose systemic corticosteroids.

Side effects

Common reactions include injection site pain and redness, mild fever, rash, and transient lymphadenopathy. Febrile seizures are rare. Thrombocytopenic purpura and anaphylaxis have been reported very rarely. Mild measles-like or rubella-like illness may occur 5–12 days post-vaccination.

Warnings

Immunocompromised individuals should generally not receive live vaccines. Vaccination should be deferred in individuals with active febrile illness. Women of childbearing age should avoid pregnancy for at least one month following vaccination. Contains trace amounts of neomycin.

How it works

Contains live attenuated strains of measles, mumps, and rubella viruses. Vaccination induces humoral and cell-mediated immunity against all three viruses. Protective antibody titers are typically achieved within 2–6 weeks following a single dose.

Storage

Store at +2°C to +8°C and protect from light. Do not freeze the diluent. After reconstitution, use immediately or within one hour if stored at 2°C to 8°C.
