Uses
Used as vitamin B12 replacement and for treatment of known or suspected cyanide poisoning.
Do not use if
No absolute contraindications are established, but caution is required in patients with prior hypersensitivity.
Side effects
May cause redness of skin, red-colored urine, increased blood pressure, nausea, headache, and allergic reactions.
Warnings
Serious allergic reactions, renal injury, and blood pressure elevation can occur.
How it works
Hydroxocobalamin binds cyanide to form cyanocobalamin and also serves as an active form of vitamin B12.
