Uses
Used for prevention and treatment of deep vein thrombosis, pulmonary embolism, and acute coronary syndromes.
Do not use if
Contraindicated in active major bleeding, heparin-induced thrombocytopenia, and hypersensitivity to enoxaparin or heparins.
Side effects
May cause bleeding, anemia, thrombocytopenia, injection-site reactions, and elevated liver enzymes.
Warnings
Risk of serious spinal or epidural hematomas in patients undergoing neuraxial procedures.
How it works
Enoxaparin is a low molecular weight heparin with antithrombotic activity mainly through inhibition of factor Xa.
